What does this mean I can do?

You must always carry a face mask with you when you leave home unless you have a lawful reason not to. For more information on when face masks must be worn, see When to wear a face mask.

  • It is recommended that you wear a face mask when exercising when you cannot keep 1.5 metres distance from others, except where that exercise or physical activity leaves you short of breath or puffing.

  • Contact and non-contact sport is allowed for both adults and children.

  • The number of people allowed in an indoor physical recreation or community sport facility is defined by the size of the space. Indoor spaces need to follow the four square metre rule when staffed.

  • If the indoor physical recreation or community sport facility is a cardio or strength training facility, which is staffed, the four square metre rule applies. When unstaffed, then the eight square metre rule applies, such as at a 24-hour gym.

  • If you are exercising in a class, there is a limit of 100 outdoors and 50 indoors if the space allows that many people (having regard to the density limits). Smaller venues can have a smaller number of people.

  • Venues are required to record attendance. Electronic record keeping is recommended. The Victorian Government has a free QR code system you can use.

  • Indoor skateparks, trampolining centres, playgrounds and playcentres are open. The venue must apply the four square metre rule

  • Indoor swimming pools, saunas, steam rooms, spas and springs are open. The venue must apply the four square metre rule

  • Outdoor swimming pools, spas and springs are open with no patron limits. The two square metre rule can be applied if using electronic record keeping, otherwise the four square metre rule applies. There are no group limits.

  • Communal change rooms, showers and toilets are open.

  • While exercising you should keep at least 1.5 metres distance between yourself and others. Venues are required to record attendance and electronic record keeping is recommended.

Can I play golf?

Yes. Golf courses and outdoor driving ranges in Victoria can open.

The number of people you can play with depends on the size of the golf course.
The two square metre rule applies.

Golf carts may be used, but course operators are required to thoroughly clean the carts in between each use.
You can use a golf cart with the people you are playing with.

People playing together should keep at least 1.5 metres distance apart.

You must carry a face mask with you at all times, unless you have a lawful reason not to wear a face mask. It is strongly recommended that you wear a face mask when you cannot maintain 1.5 metres distance from others, unless you are out of breath or puffing (or have a lawful exception).

Indoor facilities are open and the four square metre rule applies. You must clean and disinfect equipment between users. Where possible you should minimise the sharing of equipment.

Businesses are required to record attendance. Electronic record keeping is recommended. The Victorian Government has a free QR code system you can use.
